You are not alone
The brain doesn't process information in isolation.
It uses the environment as part of its thinking.
This is especially pronounced for neurodivergent brains. The state of your physical space, the sounds around you, the presence or absence of other people ... They're active inputs to your cognitive state.
A cluttered desk isn't neutral.
For many people, it's a continuous low-level distraction, a set of open loops competing for attention. A noisy environment isn't neutral either. It's consuming processing capacity that could go elsewhere.
This doesn't mean you need a perfect setup. It means your environment is worth designing deliberately rather than leaving to chance.
What removes friction from starting?
What makes sustained focus more likely?
Small changes to the environment often do more than large changes to willpower.
Design your environment to support your life.
With love,
Frank
